Name: Blaise Zabini
House: Slytherin
Year: 6th
Biography:If there was ever anyone who should be thankful for being a part of the aristocracy, it is Blaise Zabini. His family lineage could be traced back to Merlin himself, or so his grandmother always insisted. The Zabini family was nothing if not well-established in France and very rich, although no one was really sure just where those millions came from, not even the family. They were generally proper, exceedingly social, and marked by their political nonchalance. Powerful, but less obviously so than a family such as the Malfoys, for it simply wasn't Zabini style to parade their advantages. It was a matter of playing one's cards close to the chest. If there was one thing the Zabinis loved, it was having the advantage of knowledge Blaise himself had a predisposition from birth towards everything grand and gay, and with his father dead before Blaise could walk and a mother who encouraged his every whim. Having the advantage of family reputation and power, Blaise's behavior was generally written off as one of the eccentricities afforded the very rich, and there were very few who would dare to mock his sexuality openly. Six months after the death of his Father Zabini and his mother moved from France to British countryside where they bought a large estate.
When Blaise Safford Zabini arrived on December 5, 1980, he found himself the source of immediate rumors. The child's pale blonde hair was so very close to that of Lucius Malfoy, cried the gossip mongers. Many people conveniently overlooked the hair color of Beatrix Zabini, Blaise's grandmother, who had been a renowned blonde beauty in her day. Suddenly, quick-tongued witches and wizards all across Britain were recalling having seen Seraphina and Lucius together, or that the two had "given each other a certain look" at a society gathering. The rumors of Blaise's true father dissipated somewhat as the two children grew into themselves and their differing physical traits became more obvious. Blaise's hair darkened to a deep golden blonde while Draco's remained almost white. It was easier to tell blue eyes from gray ones. However, there are still those who insist that the rumors were true. Blaise, aged five at the time, inquired innocently of his mother once, "Is Draco my brother, mum?" He was met with a cold request to finish his biscuits. He never asked about it again, and while he's quite certain of his parentage, still can't say for sure that his mother and Lucius Malfoy never had an affair.
Blaise had always been fascinated by tall, imposing man, and has many a day stood watching him in awe. This sense of enchantment was transferred to his childhood playmate and as soon as both boys began to become aware of their sense of self. Draco was the more assertive of the two from the time they were toddlers, and never seemed remotely compelled to apologize for anything. He was always the center of attention wherever he went, and easily grew into the sort of easy self-confident superiority only found in the privileged. From the time he was able to consider such things, Blaise viewed Draco with a mix of adoration and envy.
As the boys matured, the adoration began to slowly push out the envy, and by the time Blaise was eight, he realized with complete finality that he didn't want to be Draco, but rather have Draco as his own. Another few years brought the awareness of what such a thing really meant, and Blaise has been contemplating how to seduce his childhood friend ever since. Even Blaise isn't fully aware of the depth of his emotions for Draco, and when he speaks of his infatuation to the few whom he trusts, he greatly simplifies it into nothing more than lust. Blaise would never act on his feelings unless he could see Draco felt the same way.
It has never been difficult for Blaise to find female friends and admirers. From a young age, he found himself the recipient of tearful confessions from girls he's known, who didn't understand why Blaise was so easy to talk to, since he was a boy. He has, in his time, tried to be "turned straight" several times, and has probably witnessed more bared breasts than any heterosexual boy his age.
